This was the first major competition post Covid and it was superb to see veteran fencers amongst the entries.
Congratulations are due to Jane Hutchison who finished third overall, only losing out to eventual winner Ellen Robbins Wilkinson in the semi-final. Jax Esimaje-Heath was the highest placed vet after the poules and finished in a fantastic fifth place. Michele Narey and Viv Frith were also amongst the vets who competed in this very tough field.
It was Mo Mansoori who led the charge in the men’s event. A couple of decent wins took him through to the last 16 and he finished in 13th place overall. Peter Howes fought well but lost out in the first round of DE.
Well done to all the fencers finding their way back into competition after a long time away, especially to our veterans!
